FALLING ACORNS, MIGHTY OAKS

Teachers Pay Teachers Purchases I Recommend for Librarians

The Teacher Appreciation Week sale is coming up soon. I saw a Facebook post asking librarians to share their favorite resources. Rather than me writing up some long, drawn out comment I thought I would throw all of the links to my favorite things in a blog post.

Some of these things I purchased since the school closure because of a sale or just the simple fact I have time to print and laminate resources, so I don’t have a good review of them in action. I have also purchased some digital things that I haven’t used yet, but I am looking forward to using. I am a sucker for a sale, I swear.

All prices listed are as of this posting. These are my own opinions; I don’t have a paid sponsorship from any of these sellers (but if y’all are interested in that… hit me up LOL). I also have a lot of favorites that are FREE, but I will have to share those in another post. This is not an exhaustive list of all the things I have purchased, just some of my more recent purchases and favorite purchases.

Digital Storybook STEM After the Fall–Be quick! The price goes up to $5.00 on Monday, May 4th. I was able to get this for $3.75. Haven’t used it yet, but it looks good! I have this book in my library. Could be used during distance learning.

Library Shelf Order BOOM Cards–I haven’t used these yet, but I know our teachers like Boom Cards. This would also be good for distance learning. $3.00

Brick Pics–This is so cool and gives my kids another way of thinking about building with legos. They can copy the flat picture. The seller also includes a link to these clear lego baseplates on Amazon. I’m going to be getting some of those. Her images line up so you can lay the clear baseplate over top and see exactly how to construct the image. $10.00

Animal Vocabulary for Osmo Words–I have not used these yet but purchased now while I have time to get them loaded into my account and downloaded onto my 12 Osmo iPads. They look really nice though. $3.00

Sound Vocabulary for Osmo Words–Same deal as above. $3.00

Bundled Martin Luther King Adapted Book, Word Wall, Task Boxes, & More!–This is another item that I have purchase during the closure. I got this one during TPT’s last sale. I wanted the adapted book, but the bundle was not much more so I splurged. One of our special education teachers does a Black History Month unit. Her nonverbal students would do well with the adapted book. That was my main reason for purchasing. I work with her kids in the library and I am often her sounding board. I look forward to using this with her students. $12.50, currently on sale for $11.25

My Practice Library Book–I used this with kindergarten last year. It was amazing for them and they took it so seriously. It was good practice before the real deal. English and Spanish versions are provided. $1.00. Great price!

Shelf Marker Flip Book–When students reach first grade in my library, they are able to use a shelf marker to browse our E is for everyone collection. I plan to use this flip book with my first graders next year. Due to the closure, I will also probably use it with second grade as a refresher. $3.50

Pete the Cat School Shoes Adapted Book–I plan to use this with SPED and preschool. Purchased during the closure as some of my work time has been printing, cutting, and laminating. I also purchased a coil binding machine from Amazon and I have been binding my books. If I could do a better job with scissors, it would almost look professional. The seller, Michelle Breaux, is my go to for adaptive books. If you are looking for adapted books for your special education or preschool students, she probably has what you need. $4.00

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Adapted Book–Same scenario as above. $4.50

Community Helpers Adapted Interactive 5 Book Bundle–I have used these with my special education classes previously. Hence my addiction to adapted books. $15.00 currently, regularly $20.00.

Chronological Coding-Code a Timeline with Abraham Lincoln–Ozobot coding activity. Would go great with an Abraham Lincoln storybook. Purchased during the last TPT sale. $3.50

Ozobot Alphabet Coding–Purchased this for my littles as an introduction to the ozobots. The price can’t be beat, so I couldn’t resist adding this to my resource collection. $1.00

Canva Templates for Librarians–This is a growing bundle, so more will be added. The graphics are sharp and perfect for your library social media. The current price is $18.00, list price is $24.00. I’d get this now, because as she adds more products the price will increase. Side note–I have a Canva for Teachers account for free. If you don’t have one, you should look into it.

Library Skills Autumn/Fall Themed Bundle–I always love having these types of products at my disposal. Some days you just need no prep printable. Currently $9.90, regularly $11.00

OPAC Bundle–I have spent a lot of time teaching my kids to use Follett Destiny. Resources like this make it a little easier for me. $8.00

Destiny Library Catalog Practice: Seasons Bundle–More Follett Destiny activities by season. $13.00 currently, regularly $16.25

Library Lesson: Parts of a Book–I used this with kindergarten this year. It worked really well. I wouldn’t purchase this unless it was on sale. While it is a good resource, it is $3.00 and I’m not sure it is quite worth it. I probably could have come up with something on my own that was just as good. Paying for the convenience and ease though!

Elementary Library Printables for the Busy Librarian–58 pages of printable. Perfect for when you need something fast or for a substitute. $6.00

Library Skills Cootie Catchers and Fortune Tellers–This is by far one of my favorite resources. My students love the cootie catchers. I have 40 minute class periods and I did this activity with second grade this year. With book checkout and cutting, coloring, and folding these, it gets chaotic. I strongly recommend folding them for the kids so they have a chance to play with them before class is over. Usually I had one kid in each class who could fold alongside me and my paraprofessional. I did find that kids had never used these before, so I had to really teach them how to get it open! $5.95

Dictionary Detective–Dictionary skills are part of my state’s standardized test, so I try to cover these in the library as well. $2.00

Works Cited for Library Research: Full Set–Perfect for elementary school. $4.00

Huge Elementary Library Product Bundle–Lots of goodies in this bundle. This was one of the first library purchases I made on TPT and I don’t regret it. Really good for the new librarian. $38.00 currently, regularly $49.00.
